So the past week I had been busy entertaining one of my girlfriend whom I had met after five years, I would say a week wasn't quite enough for all the catching up we had to do. Between college, writing last minute assignments and spare times, I could hardly take any pictures for my blog. Anyway over the weekend I got my boy to take some pictures of me on the terrace. We couldn't take much pictures as the sun had already set and I wasn't very comfortable with people staring from their terraces so we had to be satisfied with the few shots. I had worn this outfit to fetch some things at the market and did I get some weird stares, probably because it looked like i was wearing a bathrobe, which actually is! I never do animal prints though I adore them, however when i laid eyes on this printed bathrobe at a flea market I immediately thought I could make something out of it. I did some alterations and made it look a little unlike a bathrobe. My siblings had a fun share making fun of it but I had always wanted a peignoir for ''fashionable purposes'' and this one was suiting me just fine. Everything else i'm wearing is thrifted except for the bag and the chuck taylors. I have been thinking of some ideas for my next post taking inspirations of the old school, I cant promise if it would turn out exactly as what I have in mind but I will be working on it. Until then, bye.

Spring breakers.
Last week was my Uni spring break, i'm still finding it hard to recover from the week long of leisure. The week passed by with catching up on friends and family, doing some assignments and also, i managed to attend some shows at the wills lifestyle india fashion week aw2013. I have to confess, i wasn't a very eager attendee of the past fashion shows. The difference this time was the resolve to follow my interest in constant, and to learn more about the current trends and designers. The most exciting part for me of attending fashion shows is the parade of street style in and outside the venue. I absolutely believe that ones personal style reveals a lot about their individuality, creativeness and confidence, and the streets are the most traditional platform for such displays. Street style continues to inspire me as it is so actual and fashion forward. Not everyone has access to fashion shows and events, which is why i feel personal style seen on the streets and how a person "dresses up" is a better showcase of their personality. I wish i could've taken pictures on street style during the fashion week, i did manage to get some shots of myself and a friend until my camera just refused me.
While at the fashion week this time, i had decided to stay back after the shows and check out the stalls for a closer look. In between gazing and admiring the number of stalls at the WIFW, a particular stall caught my eyes. The exact thing that grabbed my attention were these jumpsuits hanging in absolute simplicity and perfection. I had to go in the stall and check out the entire collection, after which i immediately declared love at first sight. I had the good fortune of meeting the designer, Shweta kapur the next time i went back and took pictures of her collection. Themed on surgery , the designs were incorporated with procedures of surgery and the instruments that went into the details and form of the garments. Minimalist designs and sober colors set the collection. From my interaction with the designer, what i learnt and what made the garments even more remarkable is the amount of research and commitment that went into making the brilliant collection. I have posted pictures of the garments i particularly loved, hope u like them equally. Until next time. :)

Layering pleasures.
I like to think i still have the strength in layering clothes though my sense of dressing is quite on the minimal side. Winter has decided to stay longer this year in the capital, hence the multiple layers still continue. What i like most about layering clothes, is that it keeps one prepared of the uncertain weather changes. Sometimes the weather can get unpredictable and if you step out of home clad inadequately, and suddenly the temperature drops, you're left feeling very cold or vice versa. This is when layering comes to the rescue, you can easily take off or put on a layer according to the weather change. I think stoles also make a convenient item for such purposes and perks up an outfit instantly.
These pictures were taken when i had met a friend a few days back. I was down with a cold so i didn't really want to take any chances with the changing weather. The boyfriend jeans are thrifted, a favorite among my pants. I pair them with heels too but decided to go for a more masculine look here. I end up looking kinda ''boyish'' in winters with the huge coats and jackets and double pants. I couldn't brave the cold with stockings and dresses, though i'd also give that a definite try one of these days as the weather warms up. Lately i've been trying to familiarize myself better with the cyberspace and blogosphere as i'm not very good with computers and its about time i have enough knowledge concerning computer technology rather than depend on others for simple problems. Apart from this college has been taking most of my time, so i shall see you all very soon with another post. Until then, bye.

Hello!
My endless interest and love for fashion had lead me to open this blog. The name of my blog was inspired by a character from a novel i read. The story is set in the 30's in the Southern United States, it is about Celie, a black woman who was a victim of patriarchy, racism and sexism. Struggling through hardships and a voiceless existence, she consoled herself by engaging in her hobby of handiworks which resulted in creating a perfect pair of pants one day. The pants not only showed her skill but also signified freedom as it was a more comfortable form of clothing than dresses. Eventually Celie went on to open an enterprise making pants which was named folkspants. Unbound and liberated, she learnt to embrace life with a new outlook. The name and her story fascinated me so I chose the name. I'm also a student majoring in english, torn between the decision of pursuing my subject or entering the fashion industry. Anyhow i'd be posting and sharing just about anything of my interests in this blog, but mostly of my take in fashion and personal style.
